Welcome to Cancer Council Northern Territory’s Annual Review, reporting on our progress and performance for 2015.

Our activities and achievements in 2015 cover the spectrum of cancer control – initiatives to raise awareness of cancer and how to reduce cancer risk, and advocacy to improve cancer control in the Northern Territory,

We increased national collaboration through our committees and networks, developed our  media channels to better share information about cancer and provide support for people affected by cancer and expanded our Cancer Informations and Support Services.

In 2015, thanks to our many donors, volunteers and our corporate supporters and partners, we were able to direct $965,484 to education and support services for people affected by cancer. You can read more about our Fundraising and events here.

In 2015, the Cancer and Information Support Service (CISS) continued to be a very well utilised and successful service for people in the Northern Territory affected by cancer. CISS offers information and support to anyone affected by cancer, including people with cancer, carers, people who have finished active cancer treatment and those people under surveillance, along with health professionals and general members of the public. Our mission statement to reduce the impact of cancer on all Territorians remains uppermost in our minds everyday as we strive to achieve this very goal. You can read more about our Cancer and Information Support Services here.

Health Promotion is an important component to Cancer Council Northern Territory’s work. It may surprise you to learn that at least one in three cancer cases are preventable and the number of cancer deaths could be reduced significantly by choosing a cancer smart lifestyle. It has been a big year in the cancer prevention space for the NT. You can read more about it here.

A summary of our financial performance is published in the Financial report section, along a more detailed financial report that can be downloaded in PDF format.
