Cancer Council’s vision is a cancer-free future. As Australia’s leading cancer charity, we provide independent advice to governments and continuously call for new or improved measures that will help reduce the impact of cancer for all Australians. As we work tirelessly towards our goal, we also require government action at national and jurisdictional level to improve the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
Over the years Cancer Council has driven some of Australia’s biggest health initiatives that have helped not only save lives and reduce the number of cancer cases, but have also positioned Australia as a global leader in cancer control. We have called for measures including the introduction of tobacco plain packaging and increases to the tobacco excise that are driving down smoking rates, as well as full implementation of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
The support of the community means Cancer Council can remain an independent voice, working effectively with the governments of the day and all political parties to reduce the impact of cancer on Australians.
