It is estimated that one in three cancer cases are preventable – and prevention is always better than cure. Making sure Australians know how to reduce their cancer risk, and providing programs and resources to help them do it, is a key part of our work towards a cancer-free future.
Across the country, Cancer Council provides information and support to help Australians reduce their risk of cancer by taking action that we know helps prevent cancers, including quitting smoking, being SunSmart, eating well, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting alcohol intake, being physically active and getting checked (by participating in early detection programs).
Cancer Council's awareness campaigns, education programs and resources have prevented countless cancer cases in Australia – and we are dedicated to supporting research and seeking policy change and programs that can prevent even more.
